The I Ching, or Book of Changes, is one of the oldest Chinese classics — a book of divination and wisdom built from 64 hexagrams, six-line figures of broken and unbroken lines. For three thousand years people have cast it to look at one specific question: a decision, a relationship, a turning point.
Hold your question in your mind and shake the coin cup. Three coins are thrown six times, and each throw builds one line of the hexagram from the bottom up. When the sixth line is set, your hexagram is complete — with its changing lines, which is where a reading really begins.
